Pictures automatically attach to e-mail?

Please help! I took my husband's i-phone and found a raunchy picture of him attached to an e-mail to a woman in his sent e-mail file (a Yahoo account). When I approached him about this (I think that he is cheating on me) he admitted that he took the picture but says that he never sent it to anyone. He claims that he went to the Genius Bar at the local Apple store and they told him that it is an i-phone glitch: that photos sometimes automatically attach themselves to an e-mail address and appear in the sent folder, even though no e-mail was ever sent. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? The future of my marriage depends on this answer!

Images don't automatically attach to emails.
I hope you and your husband can work things out though.

I have never heard of such a glitch.
An email will not be in an account's Sent mailbox unless the message was successfully sent, and an email with a photo attached cannot be created by itself and sent without user interaction.

Its a glitch, but only happens if the pic is sufficiently raunchy.

Pictures don't "magically" attach themselves. Why don't you call the Apple Store closest to you and ask them if they have heard of that glitch? Common sense is not so common.

Your husband is lying to you. I use the iPhone with work and and needless to say we have all sorts of private documents that get sent. The iPhone has fairly reasonable security measures and would not do such a thing. Not only is your husband cheating on you, he LIED. TO. YOU. AS. WELL.

Susan, it's most DEFINITELY a glitch. I've had it happen several times on my phone, as have my coworkers who use iPhones.
The reason the answers here have been so skeptical is just how rare photo use is with the iPhone, as well as the apps installed on the phone that would cause this. It has to be under very UNUSUAL circumstances that it can happen--yet it can and does frequently.
Please ignore any of the "troll" answers you're getting causing you grief. (You can find a definition of troll at www.urbandictionary.com )
Hopefully, this bug will be resolved in the next firmware update.

This has definitely happened to me a couple times too. At first I thought it was just accidental with the phone being in my pocket and just jumping around, but since the first two times I have made sure I have locked it.
I don't really know how to fix it but its starting to worry me. My phone has already sent pictures to the girl I like, my grandmother as well as a buddy of mine. Thankfully none of them have been too ranchy.

Interesting how you make the assumption that none of the rest of us use email to send pictures. If this happened frequently, you'd see lots of posts about it on these forums and there are none.
Pictures don't magically attach to email without someone tapping the email button on the picture and email doesn't magically end up in the sent folder if it has not been sent.
The guy cheated on her and then tried to lie and cover up.

The glitch claimed is too far-fetched. Opening the e-mail app on its own. Plucking an e-mail address at random. Attaching a pic. Sending it, but only to the inbox. And let's not overlook that the "iPhone" sent a sexual picture to another woman. Too coincidental. Any one of the four might pass, but when combined together, it's too far-fetched.

I know. I'm guessing the previous posters who claim it can happen are going to try to use the same excuse when they get caught cheating.

I feel bad for Susan, but I am morbidly curious of what the picture looks like and the end results of her findings. I must not be the only one who is wondering about that.

Add that picture to the late night phone calls and some other miscellaneous texts and e-mails that I found ... and this is not the first woman ... and let's just say that my atty is working on the divorce complaint.
Nonetheless, I wanted to remain open to the possibility that it was all some big mistake (I think that he is the big mistake) and thank everyone who provided input on this discussion.

this is not an issue with the iPhone so the glitch is probably with your husband. i can understand if the picture attaches itself to an email but for it to appear on the sent folder without being sent is absolutely ridiculous. i cant think how he will get away with such a preposterous idea.

This isn't the answer you want to hear, but there is no known glitch where an iPhone attaches a photo to an e-mail and places it in the sent box. I verified this with a Genius at Steve's pet-store in Palo Alto. So either your husband is the only person to encounter this "glitch" or he's straight-up lying to you. My money's on the latter.
